Board of Directors
Wayne Tedford is the current EHCA Board President. Wayne earned his Bachelor’s degree in Theology and Biblical Studies from Trinity Southwest University. He brings a strong theological and non-profit acumen to the board having served as assistant pastor at Eastern Hills Baptist Church for 4 years and Pastor/Elder at Christchurch for 12 years. Wayne was a founding member of Hands On Ministry and Education (HOME) and served on their board for 6 years, 3 as president. He previously served on the board for Christchurch SBC as Vice President, Treasurer and Elder.
Additionally, Wayne has owned a commercial and residential remodeling company for the past 15 years.
Wayne and his wife, Angi, have two boys at Eastern Hills Christian Academy.
“I believe putting our boys at EHCA is the best thing we could have done for them. They love their teachers and they both look forward to going to school every day. EHCA is important to me because it not only teaches my children the basic principles they would learn at most private schools but it also allows them to encounter God on a daily basis in an intimate way. This combination will give them the best foundation for their future.”
Wayne O. Whitlock
Wayne Whitlock is the EHCA Board Vice-President. He brings 28 years of organizational and management experience to the board having served in the electrical trade since 1988. Wayne is the owner of W.O.W Electric which he founded in 1995.
Wayne has been a member of the EHCA board for 9 years. He also serves on the CNM Electrical Advisory Committee and the EHBC Building Committee.
Wayne has two daughters who attended EHCA from preschool through 8th grade.
“EHCA provides its students with a Christian education which in addition to providing strong academics, also teaches Christian values, character training, and Bible teaching. Loving teachers, who truly care about their students, minister to them by incorporating prayer and Bible study with strong academic teaching.”
Traci has more than 16 years experience in the field of engineering. She began her career as a mechanical engineer at the Department of Energy working in weapon programs. She then worked at Sandia National Laboratories in electromechanical components and nuclear safety assessment. Traci has taken the past 8 years off to focus on her children and volunteer work, including serving on the EHCA board. Traci currently holds the position of Board Secretary.
Traci and her husband have two children who attended EHCA from preschool through 8th grade. Her daughter went on to attend Hope High School where she graduated 4th in her class and her son is taking classes at CNM as a high school junior.
“It’s important to me to sit on the board at EHCA because I believe in this school. Both my children graduated from EHCA and were more than prepared academically and spiritually for the challenges they faced in high school and beyond. In my 12 years as a parent at this school, I was so thankful and impressed with the dedication of the teachers and how they genuinely care for the students. I am blessed to be in the position to serve and give back to a school that serves their children so well.”
Bill Russell has served as an elected member on the Board of Directors for the past 8 years and as a volunteer for 18 years. Bill is the current Board Treasurer. He also serves on the Eastern Hills Baptist Church Board of Trustees.
Bill brings extensive management acumen to the board having served 35 years with the USDA Forest Service in a variety of roles including Assistant Director of Aviation and Fire Management for the Southwest Region.
Bill and his wife, Vicki, a teacher at EHCA for 25 years, have twin grandchildren that attended EHCA and a granddaughter currently in the preschool program.
“I believe that schools like EHCA are more important today than ever before because as our society becomes more and more secular the need for Christian-based education increases.”
Mike brings a wealth of organizational and leadership knowledge to the board having worked for Sandia National Laboratory for more than 30 years as an Electronic Technician in Telemetry Engineering. Mike is now enjoying 23 years as a retiree while serving the Lord through leadership roles in Eastern Hills Baptist Church and a number of other organizations throughout Albuquerque.
Mike has served on the Eastern Hills Christian Academy board for two years. He also serves as a Boardmember for the Albuquerque Daylily Society, holding the position of President in 2006 and currently serving as Treasurer. Mike is a Deacon at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, holding the positions of Chairman in 2010 and Secretary since 2015.
Mike has two granddaughters at EHCA, one in preschool and one in elementary.

Lu Ann Cortese
Lu Ann has served on the Board for more than 10 years and previously held the position of President. Lu Ann brings a wide range of educational administration, organizational and management knowledge to the board having been a teacher, a realtor, a manufacturing rep and a travel advisor. Lu Ann also serves on the Eastern Hills Baptist Church Women’s Ministry Board.
Lu Ann’s continued goal for Eastern Hills Christian Academy is to ensure that it provides a Christian alternative to public school while maintaining high academic standards and close relationships with attending families.
“I’m firmly committed to Eastern Hills Christian Academy as I believe it is an oasis of Christ’s teachings and love in a very corrupt world.”
Gayle Wenrich has served on the Board of Directors for 4 years and previously held the position of Board Secretary. From 1970-1974 and again from 1979-1982, Gayle was a missionary with the North American Mission Board here in Albuquerque. In 1982, God led her to Eastern Hills Christian Academy where she became a preschool teacher for 26 years. Gayle continues her outreach as a volunteer counselor at CareNet Pregnancy Center.
Gayle and her husband, Bill, have 2 sons and 2 grandchildren that attended Eastern Hills Christian Academy and a third grandchild will be starting in the fall.
