EHCA History

Eastern Hills Baptist Church was established in 1964 on what was then the eastern edge of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In 1973, Evelyn Thompson, a retired teacher and church member, received a calling from the Lord.  The area around Eastern Hills Baptist Church had grown and she was led to establish an early childhood education program for the local community.  Eastern Hills Christian Academy was founded with a preschool and kindergarten program.

In 1997, as a response to parent requests, the elementary school was expanded and the 1st-5th grades were added under the leadership of Dee Hutson and Camille Miller.

In 2004, a middle school was added that expanded our programs through 8th grade.

Today, EHCA is the school of choice for over 185 children from the greater Albuquerque area and from many different churches and denominations.  We are accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the leading accrediting body for Private Christian Schools, and the State of New Mexico.  Camille Miller continues to serve as the school’s Administrator and Principal.
