Administrators Updates

July 30, 2020

Good afternoon, EHCA families. I want to start by thanking you all for your patience and support throughout this past summer. None of us could have anticipated what this next school year would look like, but we have seen God working throughout our planning process, and we are looking forward to seeing all of our students return this August. We are praising God that our small class sizes allow us to meet in person while following all guidelines laid out by the NMDOH for small businesses. We believe that parents should have the freedom to make decisions regarding their child's education, health, and emotional well-being. While there are many online options available to students throughout these next few weeks, we stand ready to provide in-person instruction for those parents that feel like this is the best option for their children. We have outlined our efforts in the Part 2 (click here) of our reopening plan. We will be sending out more details for our supply drop off scheduled for August 11th. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

In Him,

Rae-Ann Gergen

Dear Parents,

EHCA tentative reopening plan is attached.  It includes details about how the school will proceed to meet the needs for on campus education following the CDC, NMPED, NMDOH guidelines. EHCA is committed to on campus learning by returning to school on August 12, 2020.  Thank you for your continued patience and prayers as we work diligently to prepare for students and staff to return to campus in August.

It was a blessing to see so many of you drive by on Thursday. It brought us such joy to see each smiling face and your words of support and encouragement warmed our hearts.

Many of you inquired about next year and what it will look like as a result of this pandemic.  The first thing we want you to hear about next year is that the board and administration are excited to see what God has in store for EHCA. EHCA is His school. We are so grateful for how He has led this ministry over the years and trust in His guidance for the future no matter what changes occur.  Please know that we fully intend to physically return to school in the fall. With that said, we are aware that school and life, in general, may look different for all of us. We are keeping a close eye on the data that comes with reopening, and we continue to evaluate the many guidelines and recommendations set forth by local and federal health agencies. We realize this information serves as a resource, and assure you that we understand it is our responsibility to ensure that we make decisions that are in the best interest of our student body. In doing so, we will take into consideration their health, safety, educational, spiritual, and social needs.

Please know we appreciate your prayers for wisdom and guidance as we continue to develop a plan for our return. This year took an unexpected turn for us, but not for God.  We are confident we will continue to navigate this season surrounded by His grace and mercy.  We believe we are poised for an incredible 2020-2021 school year with a remarkable faculty and staff excited to serve your family and invest in your children’s lives. We will continue to provide information and updates throughout the summer, but please feel free to call or send an email if you have any questions.  We love you all and truly look forward to being together again in the fall. Thank you once more for your support, encouragement, and faithful prayers.

In Him,

EHCA Board and Administrative Team

Dear Families

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place today, May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec. 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.  This is an opportunity to come together as a global community to support nonprofits around the world.

Last spring EHCA established a financial aid fund to assist families with financial needs to attend EHCA.  Our vision is that money would not be a barrier for any family to attend EHCA and this fund is the way we can make that a reality.  Thanks to the generous support of our community, we were able to provide financial assistance to all the families who applied and qualified for aid.  We anticipate the economic impact from this pandemic will make the need for financial assistance greater than ever this coming school year.

Please join us on Giving Tuesday Now by supporting EHCA or another nonprofit in the area.  Your donations make a difference.

April 13, 2020

Good afternoon, Parents.

Annually, our students take the Terra Nova battery of assessments. Testing was originally scheduled for the 20th-24th of April. The testing environment is highly structured and regulated. In order to protect the integrity of the testing environment, these tests will not be issued virtually and will not be given prior to the end of this school year. When mapping out their instructional plan for this year, our teachers allotted a week for testing and 2 additional days at the end of the year for middle school graduation, exams, yearbook signing parties, AM/AR incentive parties, and field trips. For the reasons outlined in this email, we'll be completing all forms of distance learning on May 13th. As soon as restrictions are lifted we plan to meet on campus to distribute yearbooks, celebrate our 8th graders, and fellowship together. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact administration.

In adherence with Governor Grisham’s announcement to extend remote learning throughout the remainder of the year, EHCA will also continue distance learning throughout the rest of the year. Our faculty, staff, and teachers are ready and prepared. We welcome this opportunity to serve your students during this time. In order to better meet the needs of your children, we are asking everyone to fill out the survey by clicking on this link.

More information will be forthcoming. Stay safe and healthy. We are continuing in prayer for each of you.

Parents, Students, and Faculty,

This is not what most of us were hoping for.  The faculty and students are anxious to see each other in person.  Most parents are ready to give up the role of teacher.  However, that is not going to happen yet.

We  do want to thank each of you for the fabulous job you have done for the last two weeks.  All three groups have put in many hours to make this distant learning possible.  We believe all of our students will be well prepared for school next year thanks to this hard work.

Please enjoy Spring Break for this next week.  Everyone relax and let schoolwork go as much as possible until we start again next week.  Relish in each other and the great blessings that God has bestowed on us during this crucial time. How many times have we said to each other before this pandemic, "Things have to slow down"?  Well, they have.  That is one blessing we can praise God for as well as extended time with family.

Please feel free to contact one of us if you have any  questions and concerns, or if there is any other way we can help.

Dear EHCA Family,

On behalf of the board, administrative team, faculty, and staff, thank you so much for your support and your words of encouragement.

We are beginning the second week of remote learning.  We are so thankful for our teachers, students, and parents. Times like these are not easy, but you all have worked together to ensure our EHCA students remain engaged academically and receive the education they deserve.
You are most likely aware of the fact that the governor has instituted a Stay-at-Home Instruction for the state of New Mexico. In accordance with the state directive for nonprofits to close, we will not be returning to campus until Monday, April 13, at the earliest. We will also be making minor adjustments to our current operating procedures. We will no longer be accepting work in person at the school. Assignments must be turned in digitally.

We believe our educators and employees at EHCA are some of the best in Albuquerque. They are working diligently to provide lessons and continue to meet required standards. Each of our teachers will continue to provide instruction, assignments, evaluation, and feedback.

We are also aware that some of our families may be struggling with drastic changes in work hours and pay. If your family is experiencing financial difficulty please contact the board at so they may work with you to develop a plan for this difficult time. In addition, if your family remains unaffected and you wish to bless other EHCA families with a financial donation towards tuition fees, please utilize the COVID-19 Tuition Assistance link on our web page (under Support EHCA/Donate Now tabs).

Eastern Hills Baptist Church has also suspended all in-person events at the building. However, we will still have a Sunday morning worship service. You are invited to worship with our church family on Facebook Live at 10:30 this Sunday Morning. This service can be seen even if you don’t use Facebook. It will be streamed live at 10:30 am each Sunday. You may join this virtual service by clicking on this link EHBC Kids will also have a Kid’s Bible Study Live on Facebook starting March 28th at 4 pm. Just go to and join Pastor Joe live. You’ll also want to visit and click on the parent pages. Download these parent pages prior to the live online study. Please invite other families and kiddos to join this Saturday as Pastor Joe teaches about "Nebuchadnezzar's Dream" from Daniel 2. This is the first of a 5 part study from the book of Daniel.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this journey together.  Please join us in praying for our school, our community, and our nation.
 In Him,

Camille & Rae-Ann
